Available Subsidy

Refundable Canada training credit limit (CTCL) of $250 per year, up to a cumulative total of $5,000, to help eligible workers pay for tuition and other eligible costs. A maximum of 50% of the tuition code can be covered.

Workers could claim a refundable tax credit for up to half of their tuition and eligible expenses to take a course or enroll in a training program.

Eligibility

To qualify for the notional account in respect of a year, an individual must :

  • have filed an income tax return for the previous year;
  • be between 26 and 65 (at the end of the year);
  • reside in Canada throughout the previous year;
  • have earned $10,000 or more in the previous year;
  • have an individual net income for the previous year that does not exceed the ceiling of the third tax bracket for the year ($147,667 in 2019).
