Level 1
This course provides the student with an introduction to the principles and uses of computer-assisted drafting and design (CADD). The course will focus on introductory level commands and techniques using the latest version of AutoCAD. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to utilize AutoCAD commands and co-ordinate entry methods, set up parameters for CADD drawings, and achieve a basic level of file management in the Windows environment. Concepts will be applied through a series of in-class problem solving drawing exercises and through the production of architectural floor plans in an assignment.
Level 2
This Level 2 course will enhance the student’s current knowledge in order to produce drawings much more efficiently and effectively. It is the direct continuation of AutoCAD for design level 1 course, which provided the student with an introduction to the principles of using computer-assisted drafting and design (CADD) to produce architectural floor plans.
Several shortcuts to create drawings quicker will be covered. A typical drawing package with Plans, elevations, sections and details will be created in the Assignments.
Base
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Employ AutoCAD interface & tools to complete basic drawings.
- Demonstrate proper application of the draw, modify, and annotate tools to a residential drawing.
- Set-up drawing properties using metric or imperial units
- Setup a typical page for drawing creation and eventual printing.
- Draw and develop typical 2-dimensional architectural floor plans.
